Retrocommissioning

We like to think differently and look beyond traditional equipment replacement-based energy efficiency. Retrocommissioning (RCx) is the process of optimizing the operation of building systems to improve efficiency and comfort. We utilize our high level of understanding of building systems to uncover those opportunities for low-cost/no-cost operational improvements.

RCx begins with an in-depth evaluation of the operation of a building’s mechanical and electrical systems. Following the investigation, identified measures are implemented to optimize system operations. Since RCx doesn’t require capital investment, it is typically very cost-effective. Typical RCx measures include control algorithm improvements, sensor, valve and damper calibrations, setpoint changes and other low-cost improvements.

Successful RCx requires a thorough understanding of building science and mechanical systems. Our staff includes Professional Engineers and Certified Building Commissioning Professionals that have evaluated and optimized over 100 buildings.
